I was buying the expensive so called all natural lotion for a while. I made the switch to it once more information became available about the dangers of absorbing all of the ingredients from traditional lotions/sunscreens/fragrances/etc. into the largest organ of the body. I have the goal of creating what I call a cancer free home by slowly eliminating everything artificial from food to dryer sheets to fragrance candles. If I can reduce the risk of my family developing a disease by making sure our body doesn't have to combat the affects of toxins in our food and environment, I feel obligated to do it. So, that is how this homemade lotion journey started.
This recipe uses uncomplicated ingredients and is easy to make. It is seriously the best lotion I have ever used. It is so creamy, thick, and luxurious. It does leave a slightly oily residue but it is only an issue if you are walking barefoot so I just put some socks on after I put the lotion on my feet and go on with my life. It is great to use on your entire body including your face and the ingredients work wonders for treating and preventing skin conditions like psoriasis and eczema. It works better on my husband's psoriasis than anything you can buy at the pharmacy. It is also helping to heal an itchy skin condition that my grandfather has on his face. All of the ingredients in this recipe have additional benefits to your health and skin that I will not get into detail about here. Just google "benefits of ..." for any of the ingredients in this recipe and the internet will satisfy your curiosity.
In the images you will be seeing me make a double batch but I will be giving you the recipe for a single batch. There are some that say this lotion will last 2 months out of the fridge and longer in the fridge (cold lotion on my body?! Brrr no thank you!). I haven't had any issues with the lotion lasting longer than 2 months out of the fridge so I will leave that part up to your discretion. I made this once with avocado oil but I actually prefer the olive oil version. It gives the lotion a slight color but the texture is just wonderful.
Step 1:

In a jar that can fit an immersion blender, add the following ingredients (I used an old pickle jar):
-1/2 cup organic olive oil
-1/4 cup organic coconut oil
-1/4 cup beeswax ( I use the pellets for faster
melting)
Step 2:
Fill a small pot halfway with water and bring it to a low boil with the jar placed inside of it. This is how I gently melt the oils and beeswax without destroying any of their natural beneficial properties.

Stir the ingredients occasionally until they have melted into a pure liquid. Then you will remove the jar from the pot using a hot pad and place the jar on the counter until it cools to nearly room temperature. If you wait until it is too cold it will begin to harden, but if you start too early when it is still very warm it will take forever to blend up.
Step 3:
Once cooled, add 1/4 cup of water and your essential oils of choice. I use a base of 2 drops peppermint, 2 drops turmeric, and 2 drops copaiba essential oils for their anti-inflammatory medicinal properties to help with joints and what not, and then I add other essential oils to get the smell I want for that batch. If you are fighting a particular skin condition you may want to consider lavender, frankincense, tea tree or other types of essential oils that are known for helping your condition. Just do a little research on what essential oils help your skin condition! Now it is time to blend. Get your immersion blender and start blending until it reaches a creamy amazing consistency.

TADA! It is finished, your very own all natural medicinal luxurious lotion. This is the only lotion we use aside from some of my personal facial skin care items but I do use this on my face sometimes. When we run out, I make more! This is better and far cheaper then the natural lotions you can buy. Store with a lid and enjoy!

Cleanup
Save yourself a world of trouble and wipe every bit of lotion you can off of your immersion blender with paper towels before attempting to wash it. This lotion is awesome at protecting your skin and keeping in moisture so it is not easy to wash off!
Bye for now <3.
